Accessibility Report on NERAASA 2018
I attended the NERAASA 2018 Assembly to learn what some of the other NER Areas’ Accessibility Chairs are doing to help serve those who need Accessibility Services. Area 47 is up-to-par with many of the other Areas and behind some others. I know if we needed to entail aspects of what I have observed other areas doing we are competitive. We are ahead of other areas due to our Accessibility actions throughout Area 47.
I participated in the Accessibility Roundtable in the evening after dinner. The Group was led by a Past Delegate. There were four areas in attendance, and we each talked about our Area’s Accessibility information. We talked about our area’s accessibility needs and this attendee discussed the ADA-ABA Federal Documents, and Area 47’s “Is your AA Meeting Truly Handicapped Accessible?” We discussed the requirements an AA Group must meet to be Handicapped Accessible. It is not simple with all of the “grandfather clause” buildings where our A.A. meetings take place.
I am glad I attended NERAASA 2018. I have gained more information about Area 47’s Accessibility Committee needs and our strengths.
Respectfully Submitted, Peter M. G., Area 47 Accessibility Chair
