Delegate’s Report to Area Assembly, December 9, 2018
Delegates Report to Area Assembly: December 9, 2018
Thank you to the 0600’s and the volunteers from Ithaca for hosting the assembly.
Northeast Regional Trustee (NERT) Election
Having received no resumes for the next election of the NERT, I notified the General Service Board Nominating Committee, that there was no candidate for the position from Area 47.
Status of A.A. Internal/External Communications Audit Report
Two days have been scheduled solely for the purpose of follow-up on the report at the next General Service Board meeting in late January. The NERT has emphasized that anyone can make recommendations based on the report. To do so contact the delegate at delegate@aacny.org The report is available on the area website.
DCM/Alt-DCM Summit
The summit was held on Saturday, December 15 in Geneva, NY. This event was for current and incoming District Committee Members (DCMs) and Alternates. In addition, any member of A.A. was invited to attend. A big thank-you to Mary B., D.C.M. 0260 for taking the time to find and make the arrangements for the use of the meeting space.
24 people were in attendance. The purpose of the summit was for the DCMs/Alt DCMs elect to have a clear understanding of the responsibilities of the position. There was much valuable shared experience from the rotating-on DCMs. There was a high level of overall satisfaction with the meeting, as measured by the assessment questionnaire completed by the participants.
Personally, it was heartwarming to see the dedication and commitment to service from the meeting participants. It has been an honor to serve alongside them. Thank you to Patty S, Past Delegate, Panel 63 for her assistance at the meeting. Including last year’s summit, it was a joy and I learned a lot working with Barb C, Alternate Delegate, and Delegate Elect, Carrie C, Area Chairperson, and Alternate Delegate Elect.
Personal Remarks
This is my final report as delegate. Serving as delegate is truly been one of the greatest experiences of my life. A great many people assisted me over the last two years. They are too numerous to mention by name. I want you to know how very much appreciated by me was your support and guidance. Most importantly, the area did a great job preparing and supporting me for the General Service Conference. In my service, I tried to always keep in mind that my efforts link with our primary purpose.
To Barb C, and Carrie C, thank you! From the center of my heart thank you!
To Patty S., Panel 63 Past Delegate, and my wife, I couldn’t have done it without you at my side. Your love for me and A.A. abides in me.
I mentioned to the attendees at the summit that my service was coming to an end. However, Todd D, our Chairperson Elect, set me straight: “Done? You’ve just begun!” The journey continues. Pass it On!
In Service – Joe S., Delegate, P67/A47 CNY
