Delegate’s Report to Area Assembly, July 12, 2020
It’s been a pretty quiet month, but here’s some info I pass along, in no particular order:
- Updated since the July Area Assembly: The final 2019 financial reports have been audited and will be presented at an online meeting to the members of the 2020 General Service Conference. Tentatively scheduled for August 15th.
- AA.org has online video content for the International Convention that would have been held in Detroit. It is available on the website for the month of July.
- The settlement with our insurance provider over the cancellation of the event in Detroit is ongoing.
- GSO has already started working on the 2025 International Convention, by sending out requests for proposals from 12 vendors that would set up arrangements in Vancouver.
- Contributions from the fellowship were way up in May. $840,000, up from the monthly average of $670,000 that we had in January through March of this year.
- There is a new Grapevine daily quote book available. It can be ordered from store.aagrapevine.org
- Big Books, in all formats, are 10% off this summer, when ordered from GSO
- There will be multiple board openings in 2021, with the positions starting immediately following the next General Service Conference:
-
- The General Service Board chairperson – need to be a past or current trustee, either class A (non alcoholic) or B (alcoholic)
- A Class B trustee at large, from the USA
- Three Class A trustees – let me know if you are aware of anyone who might be approached for this (someone you deal with in corrections, legal, medical, religion, etc.)
- A non-trustee director for AAWS
- A non-trustee director for Grapevine/LaVina
In love and service,
Barb
