Treasurer’s Report on NERAASA 2023
My First NERAASA (2023) – Debi C. Area 47 Treasurer
What a special experience! Red Ball meeting on Thursday night. Side trip to the Wilson House Friday morning. We tried to visit Bill and Lois’s grave sites, but it was a bust, too much ice!
Friday night I attended the Treasurer’s roundtable. I was amazed at how much money some Area’s and even District’s have to spend. We talked a lot about what we do with our surplus funds. Many in the room were totally against sending excess to GSO. I also learned how we can earmark our excess funds to cover Delegate expenses above the requested stipend. Many Areas can fully fund their Delegate’s conference expenses. I learned about how they budget and will bring some of them to the assembly.
Saturday afternoon during the second roundtable we spoke about online contributions and keeping a separate fund for Literature and Grapevine. I was able to offer some feedback on our procedures.
I attended most of the panels. One panelist was from our very own Area 47. Eileen B. did a fantastic job. Her topic was if GSO should move out of NYC. This topic took many by surprise as it is not an agenda item and there is not much chatter about it.
I’ve been attending a GV meeting online for three years in Area 48, what a joy to see so many them in person and get hugs! I wandered around and sat down with strangers and we left as friends! One special bonus was running into my friend JoAnn M. from Area 50, she served as Delegate for Panel 30 and has 52 years of sobriety. JoAnn winters in FL now but came up to NERAASA as always!
I want to thank Area 47 for the opportunity to attend, it is much appreciated!
